FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- What is the usual cost for a Family or Child portrait session and a finished portrait for my home?
-
Clients on average spend $750 - $1500. We do have payment plans if requested.
- When are you available?
-
I work by appointment only in order to give each client the time they deserve.
With my time spent traveling to client homes and locations, I want to be sure I don’t miss you. Typically, I save Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday for family. - How long do portrait sessions last?
-
Indoor location sessions usually take about 2 hours. 30-45 minutes is taken to set-up and then the session can take up to an hour depending on breakdowns. Outdoor location sessions usually last about 1-1.5 hours. Studio sessions can go 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on outfit changes. I do understand young children have short attention spans, so I plan as much as possible to make the session run smoothly and quickly.
- What is done with my portrait session fee?
-
The $300 session fee is a place holder. If you arrive and the session is completed and portraits are chosen within 3 months, all of your deposit will go towards your purchase. From 3-6 months $200 will be rolled into purchases. If I don’t hear from you after making an attempt to reschedule, the fee will be kept in its entirety
- Can we do different groupings of people during a family session?
-
Yes! I would be happy to do that. I know it can be hard to get everyone together and nicely dressed, so I would be happy to create break-downs of different family members. Individuals, couples, kids, are all important and I will be sure to allow enough time to photograph others if requested.
- How far in advance do you schedule?
-
For a business portrait I can usually schedule a week ahead. Depending on the needs, I might be able to find time within 2 days.
As for families, I get the process started as soon as possible with the design but tend to schedule 3-4 weeks ahead. - Where are you located?
-
We are located just a few blocks off of Historic Downtown McKinney, Texas in a restored 1882 home. Conveniently located east of I75, north of 121.
- Do you provide framing?
-
I will have a small selection of custom frames available to purchase. All frames are custom, so they will take up to a month to produce. I will frame and deliver the final completed and ready to hang portrait when ready.
- Do you have a studio space?
-
I do. Located above my garage is a newly built air conditioned studio space that is large enough to photograph children, small families (3-4 members), and business portraits.
- What if a member in my family gets sick before the session?
-
I understand things like that can happen the morning of a session. If you have any warning or knowledge before the day of please let me know as soon as you can. Unless the session involves family visiting for a short period of time, I would postpone. Nothing is more miserable than being sick during a session. It will show and in the end your time and mine will be best utilized if we schedule for another day.
- Can I copy the photographs I have purchased?
-
Wythe Portrait Studio retains full copyright on all portraits, this means it is a criminal offense to reproduce, scan, photocopy, or email any portraits without my consent.
I do provide small digital versions of all portraits purchased so they can be shown on social media. Also, this rule does not apply to any portraits bought for the use of holiday cards.
Business images are handled differently and are not under the same rules. - May I purchase portraits from my session in the future?
-
Yes. I keep all images and will catalog them for the future. There may be a research fee if this falls beyond one year since the portrait session. Any discounts made at the initial purchase will not be allowed.
